John pretty much rebuilt the motor of his starquest in his garage, he does not have a full shop, for what he has to work with, my hat is off to him. For you to shit on a guy like him makes you look like you are taking candy from a baby, he is one of the best car guys I have ever met, very level headed and knows what he is talking about, out this way, some of us get our hands dirty.
Focinite may seem like an odd ball, but, he knows what he is doing, and, for a guy that came over clean as a whislte, he had no quims about getting dirty as we tore down my old motor.
Both of these guys are on planet earth, and, are some of my fav guys on this board. I am usualy a very negitive person(ask umdivx) so when I give praise, its for a good reason.
Well first of all, you've never worked on a car with me so trying to judge what I know is quite pointless. I'm sorry, pulling a motor mount to replace a serpentine belt is about the most ass backwards thing I've heard in a while. I don't doubt that Rob is good with a wrench, nobody is perfect at what they do.
Removing the motor mount and tilting the engine forward is going to make it easier but it's definitely not necessary. Besides, he's not looking for instructions on how to change his alternator, he asked if someone would do it for him. (which btw I offered to do) I'm glad that some of you "get your hands dirty" but last time I checked I've worked on my car in every circumstance where I had the time to deal with it. I'm not superman with a wrench, but I still get the job done.
im not calling you out. but i have multiple ways of doing the serp....! take the front right wheel off and plastic guard...2. remove motor mount...3 try to push my large ass arms into that small little space, i oppt for remove mount jack motor and not struggle at all. now for the alt....1.remove mount and find some thing not plastic to pry on( good luck)...2( my fav) put car on hoist remove front right tire , remove knuckle from strut, pop out axle, move serp belt, remove alt with no problems, takes 15 min , then revers order to install...3 once you have broke your intake and exhaust mani's, cracked your valve cover, severed your fuel line, you bring it to me and ill charge you 300 dollars for an alt and take 1/2 hour to put it in

.... oh and i like this one , i dropped the motor out the bottom on my swap, i left the axles in, i left the cradle on, and i did all this on fucking jack stands, in a garage!, on the floor!!! with no air!!!!!!!! it was 115 degrees!!!!!!!!!!!!!. i now chalange any one !!!!!!! the test is....... right front axle on a focus mtx..... r+r'ed ( hoist set and part out part in ) 16 min. i was timed cus i got charged to do it, beat it and you got my respect ( i used air )

and shit ill do any thing for the right price........... yes any thing
