Anyone else interested in getting in on a group buy on the real deal tool from Ford for the REAR SVT BRAKES?
Steve said they are kind of spendy, but it sounds useful.

turning the piston or whatever back in on the rear, the ebrake adjusts it out, and when you do pads you need to put em back in.

I just knew that I think steve, myself, and you plan on doing brake stuff in the future. Stilz had a universal one, but the Ford one sounded nice.

The tool is about $70.00 or so if I recall correctly, I do have them in stock now since FRPP caries them now.

It's WAY better than the universal tools, I can show one to you guys at the meet if you like.

well i have the tool, i bought it a long time ago, but since im not the one to be the free guy.......... but since i like you zurno, i may let you rent it from me for 10 bucks 8)

I would rather chip in $20 on the tool and be part owner than rent it for $10 :lol:

I would rather chip in $20 on the tool and be part owner than rent it for $10 :lol:
so whats the diff between the uni tool and the ford tool?? oh thats right absoloutly nothing. the tool is built by the same company. its the same tool sept my attachments arnt welded on, so i can go from your svt to a tuarus to w body cutty. so the point your trying to prove is what exactly??? :lol:

you could have a different universal tool? Steve said the Ford tool puts pressure on it for you I believe. Stilz's tool did not, and it was a pain in the ass. It worked, but I figured if the atleast 3 of us planning on doing brakes in the future wanted to they could pay a little more and get the better tool.


PS What do you need that tool for? You don't have rear discs.

The universal tool Zurno's talking about is the little cube with the nubs sticking out of it that they sell at car quest and Napa.

Even the Ford tool is semi-universal in that it has interchangeable head with different nubs and diameters.

Interesting... You guys can't just spin the rear caliper piston to get it to turn back in? That's what I've done with mine in the past. :?

and zurno.....come on man, how many times do i have to tell you, im a mechanic!!!! thats why i have the tool. that style of caliper is/was a very popular design for rear brakes, ford, gm,mazda,audi,volvo,jag,vw and more all use or have used this design... in the car world there a companies that make parts for car makers, the car maker then has a specical use for said part, witch in turn may be the same part( diferent bolting) on a completely different car. :lol:

yes and no. sometimes the piston sticks a little, but the head of the piston turns. in most cases there needs to be some pressure to force the fluid out of the open bleeder as you are backing the piston in. and yes the bleeder should be open so the debris in the fluid goes out the bleeder, not upstream and into the system.

you know I am just giving you shit for prefering the little zx3 brakes over the SVT brakes

Roger that... I know the first time I ever took them down I pretty much took the entire caliper apart to figure out how the heck they worked but once I got it all apart I figured it out :lol:
