Real quickly, I for one would not want to promise an SVT win in a straight line run with either of those but I think it would be interesting.

The SVT has more hp stock than an ST but the ST has a torque advantage.

I think I can explain why the guy with the auto to MTX swap got slower, The MTX has rather wide gear spacing so it won't keep the engine in it's ideal rev range (expecially with a Zetec) but the SVT Getrag with it's closer ratios keeps the engine right where it should be when you are running it hard.

After thinking about it some more this weekend. And making some speed runs out on a back road. I still think my ST pulls harder than that auto did. But that was with four people in the car and no passengers with me. I don't know how heavy the other three guys are but all that weight doesn't help a car be any faster. On a straight one on one battle ST vs. Auto the auto may very well win.

I have only ran two cars. One a CAI, Cosie header & full exaust, tune and cam adjusted D20 xz3. His dyno sheet showed my stock numbers around 134-135. But I had my CAI on by then and I got him by a length and a half from a 60 mph. The other car looked to be a stock svt. Again the only mod I had was the CAI. I was dead even with him up to 100-105. Thats my experiance.

And a auto/ST/SVT run would be fun as hell. Maybe we should have a g2g down at Rock Falls and see what we can all do on the track. A little safer and a more legal way of finding out which is faster.

Let me break this down for you. Ill make it simple. I said what I said because thats what I have experience racing other focus. Not because of some bs I read in a magazine. I ran a svt focus both in my old car and new one. In the old one we raced from a dig. I had an cold air intake 4 into 1 headers and exhaust. stock cat cause I just got it back after I messed up the old one. He had a cold air intake and T/B. Anyway it was neck and neck the hole race. we raced just short of a 1/4 mile. But top end he had me hands down. As for racing one with my new car. I ran one on the freeway and I had him by about a foot or two. not much but I was ahead. That was when I was stock. dont know what he had. Saying your going to beat my because you have 20 more hp and 6 gears is dum. Its more than that. It comes down to alot of things. I ran a rsx type s. that says it has 200 hp and a 6 speed, and they cat run with my car or and svt. It comes down to mods, type of road,what shape the road is in. And most of all it comes down to driver experience and skill. The only thing that I have seen that would help take the win time and time again is torque and larger displacement. And I do have you on both, if you want to state facts. And as for racing me ill be waiting. All you have to do is find me. :twisted:
see this is the old mnfoc!!!!!!!! im only funnin ya ( a little ) ive put the focu on a diet. you have larger brakes, larger knuckles, four big ass rotors, two extra doors, more glass, carpet,a back seat, door panals,a roof liner. by this summer my car should be striped down to nothing again, im looking into carbon body panals( i said im looking into, not already having) so you may have tourqe( its french) and a speed limiter, i got a rev happy motor, and a light shell....but yer right all this talkin gots me wantin a warm road and a good strech of highway!!! :twisted: well see ya this summer and if all goes right, youll hear the blower whine.....shift....blower whine.....shift..............blower whine.............................shift

i may be wanting to Xcross it, but i have a new system going in and a rear seat delete( 2 15s in the delete) i am doing the svt sway bars this summer and fingers crossed , power works. the j/r has a new m62 compressor out i have been lookin at( pardin ma drunkness, and there will be a drunk post!!!) but im gunnin for all imports , all srt4 neons( one inpertickler) all mullet haven red neck sums -a - bizniches, and i have some other things but i kant think right know. :?
