Thank you harold! and actually you have no idea how hard it will be because i dont know if you know of anyone that has done it iminhell! there are many conversions done over seas as i think someone has pointed out already. and usually when guys do an awd switch in a focus (for personal use other then racing) they use the setup in the old cosworths. and you want to talk about bragging rights? anyone can tell you that the bragging rights of the drivetrain and potential of the mkIV escort cosworth! Also i think that being from MN it would be much more fun to have a powerful AWD focus in the winter then a powerful FWD focus in the winter.

Ah I had forgot that I really want to do a AWD in my 48 Ford Truck. More than likly from a Explorer with a Supercharger of course

I do know a fully tubed Box would be faster or a Corvette or Mustang driveline would be better hadleing but every other truck that is in the same era as my old truck is like that.... If somebody does the AWD before me I'll be bummed but then again it would be something to outdo

all right.... i have put many an hour on the throne with this one. the best way to do this with out sorcing parts from over seas is find a junk volvo s40 t5 awd. it is the awd focus. our chassis was born from this car. the bad thing is this set up if front bias on the drive train. now if you wanna get trixy take the drive train from a mazda speed six and youll have to fashion rear arms from a s40 but this set up is a 60/40 rear bias. it has a six gear and uses a 2.3 ,but if you wanna stick true to rally foci use the s40 and have the drive traine reprogramed.

thank you for the info on that one, some of the most helpful so far. actually if i dont do the AWD in the focus my next option to look at is buying the new speed6 when it comes out!

Ford at one time sold all the part required to do a V8 rear drive swap. You may still be able to find the parts, I don't know if ford sell them anymore though. It would solve the rearend problem.

The problem with that is it uses a live axle setup.

you mean that car was born from our car I am guessing. Good luck finding one, you'd be better off finding jag components

all speed sixs are six gears they didnt make an auto fo it. most s40s that ive seen are that auto with slap stick thingy, i have seen only a few s40s with a 5 gear.
