I have had this rubbing problem forever at the rear chamber with my focus whenever I have more than 1 passenger sitting behind. Hmm I have 1.5' drop and 215/45/17 tires size, I am wondering if I should change it to 205/40/17 and will it make any difference? . It may also be the spring rate issue, what do you guys think.

well, unless your offset is wrong, that SHOULD work... i mean, those are pretty much SVT specs, so there shouldn't be a problem... whats rubbing, and where?

205/40/17 is pretty thin, I would go with 215/40/17. What kind of rims are you running, and where on the tire does it rub?

It rubs at the right side of the rear chamber.

stop hauling fat chicks... j/k... i would check to see if the inner fender well is loose or drooping at all, anothr thing to check is your alignment to see if all is unbent, i have seen rear camber cause some rubbing on lowered foci. it is possible you have a blown strut and the weight shift is to much for it, but i would go for the inner whell well drooping.

My tires rub in the rear as well when you hit a decent sized bump at moderate speeds...LOL Its only done it twice tho. I have a 1.5inch drop with 215/45R17 tires on a 42mm offset rim.
My old Ford Racing rims did'nt rub. I don't know if its either the offset difference, of the fact that even tho they were the same size, the Kuhmo's were'nt as wide as the BFG's I have now.

My alignment is perfect. I had done last fall, with less then 700 miles since then. I don't mind it rubbing, I just slow down more.

I have the TSW Eurace, I think it has +45mm offset. The struts have all been changed to Eibach struts, so I think they shouldn't be the problem. Hmm I haven't do an alignment for a while, that could be the possible issue.

Ive got the same problem on my 07 ST with an 1.5" drop.
My 205/40/17 never did it but i wrecked a rim because of no sidewall and the manufactor discontinued them (BSA Style 391 Chrome) so i bought Saleen Wheels and got the 215/45/17 and now they rub all the time when i hit a big bump

I have 215/40r17 on 40 offset wheels with one 3mm spacer on each side and a 2.5" drop; and I used to have a major rubbing problem in the back.

Solution: I took the spacers off, rolled the fender lip, and ground away some of the sheet metal away where the q-panel and bumper meet. (You can't see the ground away material. it is inside the fender well. But having a hard point like that digging into the tire worried me. If yours is rubbing, you probably know what I'm talking about.)

Now it only rubs on really big bumps, (with people in the back).

My 07 ST does the same thing if i have any weight in the back. I guess thats what we get for wanting lowered cars

Got rear camber bolts? I have maxed out coilovers on a low offset wheel but I run a lot of negative camber and never rub.....

I don't mean to threadjack, but anybody got experience with 225/45-17 with the stock SVT suspension?

Side note, I rubbed on my Schmidts last night...LOL...
