I asked my buddy, and I guess you splice it into the two wires of the crank sensor. On a mustang one is blue, and the other is green. It doesnt matter what way you wire the the tach adapter wires, to the crank sensor wires. blue to red, green to black, or blue to black green to red ect... He said the Focus should be the same way, but isnt 100% sure the crank sensor wires are blue, and green. Make sense?

makes sense. thanks bud!
does the tach adapter also get 12v from the battery or a switched source? and it's own ground? and then green goes to the green wire on the tach and the tach gets it's own switched 12v and ground.

The two wires in the yellow sleeve go to the crank sensor. On the other side, Black goes to ground, red goes to switched 12v, and green is the tach signal.

excelet. thanks.
than it is as I thought it would be... jsut dont want to bry the ECU by messing with the wrong wire! (personal experience = expensive)
also, somebody over on FJ said you can tap into those wires where they connect to the ECU in the cabin.
I'd try it but I need a wiring diagram for the ECU.
Anybody know where to get one?
I searched all over for at least an hour without results. if all else fails, I can grab my multimeter and see which wire goes where from the sensor to the ecu. that way I can avoid drilling through the firewall again.
