Ford announced that the Euro Focus and Transit Connect, and the Fiesta will be brought to North America. When will I be able to go pick up my Fiesta? And how much?

The Fiesta will debut in Europe, and the same basic model will roll out in North America in 2010.

Calm down there little buckaroo, I've heard that the Fiesta hatch will be coming here.

Now you just have to figure out how to fit your widebody in the Fiesta to begin with, maybe you can get the center steer option on yours.

Six euro models coming in the next two years and they're converting three truck plants to small car production.

They may have dragged their feet a bit but it looks like they may have it figured out now.

I can't buy anything for a coule years anyways so it won't hurt me to wait.

They also announced that the St.Paul Ranger plant has had another extention out to 2011.

Steve, here's the quote from the article:
"Some regional differences remain. Americans want more powerful air conditioning and can't stand hatchbacks, so they will get a four-door sedan that blasts AC. And after much discussion, Ford also decided to make two distinct key fobs. Americans like to hear a beep following two light flashes when they lock the car; Europeans find the beep intrusive. "We hope we get to the point where this sort of thing isn't necessary," says North American designer Peter Horbury. "What we must avoid is selling to the fish in the middle of the Atlantic."

Sounds to me like we get a POS sedan. And I would lube up to get in a hatch.

I don't see how we need two different key fobs, can't they just program the car to respond differently to the same remote?

We're getting the Fiesta hatch, trust me.

I think they're saying a different key fob for the american vs euro model. Otherwise they're trying to build them the same wherever possible. Seems like it would be a good approach.

You have to remember, the small slice of the market that wants performance cars isn't what keeps the company in business.

Can I punch you if we don't. Remember there is no hatch Focus right now too because in all their wisdom American's don't want hatches.

I know the MK 1 Focus remotes in europe were only 3 button, no panic button. So maybe that is what they are referring to.

No you can't punch me but you can punch Justin, I know he's safe because no one ever sees him 8)

Just wait and see what happens when the Fiesta gets here, things could change.

Christ, you can't go two blocks without seeing a ZX3 these days. How can they say Americans don't buy hatchbacks?

I was talking to one of our salesmen and he said that in the sales meetings the managers always ask "What do you guys want us to get in?" and they always say "get more small manual transmission cars".

Guess who doesn't listen? A lot of people end up with an auto because it's all thats on the lot. It's the idiots that order the cars for the dealerships that get all the automatics. They're also the same idiots that load the lot with F-150's with open diffs instead of limited slip for towing.

I guess Americans won't buy VW bugs, Mini coopers or Smart cars either since they only have two doors huh?

Just give it time, no sense getting worked up about it before car 1 hits the road here.
