So as most of you know, I switched over to Fox body's. Technically I'm still a Focus owner though cause I have a SVTF rally car in the progress. I'll start a seperate thread for that.

Anyway here is the car,
1989 Ford Mustang GT convert.
5.0L V8
5 speed manual
235 HP 300 ft. lbs. tq (stock)

Update with progress of the car.
The goal is to have a 600+ HP car by the end of the winter.

600....hmmmmm not out of a 302 cubic inch small block. id go for a 347,but still gonna be tricky unless you add boost or spray. still with boost you will want after market heads as the even the gt 40 heads have small valves and dont work with alot of headers due to the queer ass plug angle. for 600 hp you are also wanting forged rods and pistons as well, these are a must for boost and high rpm. the down fall to the late ho 50s is the heavy roller lifters. :(

It can be done. Kenny used to have 600 whp with a novi 2000, stock trick-flow heads, f-cam, and headers/exhaust. Stock bottom end.

He now has a 1200 whp dart blocked, twin turbo monster.

Ahhhhh, brings me back. I had 90 and 01 gt converts myself, they were fun.

That looks real clean. Won't see many 89's lookin like that. I'm thinking those are rims off a 91-93?

yeah boost, thats what i said in a round a bout way.any untard can make power with boost. be a man build it to see 7 grand put a set of 4.10s, the 5 speed wont mind, with 600 horse power and a stock bottom end, ehhh, its like holding on to a grenade real tight after the pins pulled, it wont pop till you slip. dont get me wrong, alot of guys get big numbers and still retain the stock internals, but yer just asking fer problems, if i build something i wanna beat the tar out of it, i want to drive it every where. with a good set of forged rods and a good set of pistons you can get away with the stock crank, the 50 is got like a 3inch stroke and a large bore, this motor wants 7 grand, make it happy, give it what it wants. 8)
