i dont want to run a sub if i dont have to
i read that the bass in 4 way speakers is overpowering enough where running a sub with them would be pointless
otherwise im going with 3way speakers and either a 10 or a 12
does anybody with a zx3 have aftermarket speakers in their car that could provide some input? thanks

Anything beyond a 2-way speaker is a gimmick, they usually sound the same as a decent 2-way. That being said, the bass output on just about any 5x7 is lacking. You're best bet is to get a good pair of 5x7 or 5.25" components for the front, no rears, and a good 10" sub. I have a Boston G3 10 running on 350 watts and it's plenty for most people. I originally had an Alpine Type E 10 on 100 watts, and that wasn't bad either.
