whats up all. hey, i have been doing really good in school in the last month or 2 and my PUs said that if i was doing good like b+ in my classes that i could do something big on my car for my bday (feb 16) i really want to turbo but i wouldnt have that much $ so im thinking of doing a S/C. iv been reading up on the jet and JR seems to be a great S/C but the new vortech (after-cooled) looks really nice. what do you all think, JC has been around for a long time but the # dont look as good as the vortech. what #s do you think it would put me in.
PS i know i would take out my UDP and prob. get different cams.
my mods are
Steeda CAI, FC 65mm Throttle Body, Pro-M 70mm MAF with 24lb injecters, FC stage 2 head, FC Cam Sprockets on crower stage 2 cams, FC Underdrive pulleys, FC race headers w/o egr, FC flexpipe, borla cat back, Diablo chip, FS spark plug wires, FS front stress bar. FS rear stress bar, Z-Engineering engine mount

The Jackson Racing S/C just never seems to impress me. Everyone seems happy but the power gains just don't seem worth it compared to a turbo setup. The vortech is a great setup, but for about the same price, you could go with a used aerocharger stage 3 if you found one. With aftercooler Tom has the Vortech for $3250 without tuning, $3760 tuned.
Tom's prices are also the lowest ones I've seen. If I remember correctly JRSC's can be had for less than $2,000.
That's my take on the situation price wise. I can't speak much for performance since Roman's car is the only F/I focus I've taken a ride in.

Vortec has been around for a long time also. It looks liek a real nice setup, but I would watch out where You get the "tuned" setup from. I have some experience with Tom's "tuning" and am very very unimpressed!

Especially for the high price. I personally do not like the install of the Aerocharger stage 3 as it is a PITA with all the tubes. I have installed the AC and a JRSC and the SC is by far a smoother, better installation, but the AC is a more bang for the buck mod.
Either way You go, if You'd like help with the install, let me know.

without the cooler and tunning the vortech is only $2300 and that makes it cheaper than the jrsc. I heard tuning is not neaded with the vortech kit but if I'm wrong buy a custom chip and get that tunned. All this will give great power for a hell of a lot less than a turbo.

Yeah its 1turbofocus. If your going supercharger, i would get the vortech with sct as the tuning. 2300 non-aftercooled, and without tuning looks like a good price(where did you find that?). You would need 42 lbs injectors, and recal your maf for them. with that set up you could always upgrade to after cooled, and a smaller sc pulley as you get the $$.
vortech: 2300
Injectors: 150
recal maf: 100
sct tuning: 800
= 3350
You can keep everything else, but the udp.
