i'm sure there's more, and there's basically only a few types and subtypes, like
manual boost controller, usually located on a vaccum line in the engine compartment, the con, you have to pop the hood to change your boost level, and there's no gauge to tell you where you set it to, you have to go drive it and feel it, unless of course you have a boost gauge located in your cabin(which you very well should) to which then you will be able to look at that to get your results of tuning
electronic boost controller, usually has a unit located on a vaccum line in the engine compartment, with a remote controller located in the cabin (best if you really love to play with your power, and alot easier to change than a manual due to the fact that most of them have a digital readout of your current max boost level, and is normaly adjusted by simply turning a knob or pressing a button)
now one thing i'm not too sure about is dual stage, although i just did some reading, and here's what i came up with, basically you have all the benefits of a manual boost controller, with the simplicity of a switch to change boost levels "shift on the fly" if you will.

anybody please correct me of i'm wrong or if i missed anything, i am scraping most of this info off the top of my head because i did alot of research on it when i had my old turbo mazda
07 stang 4.0, T5, Pony Package.
