Greetings.
I purchased a set of SVT wheels in white back in March when I bought my 07
white SES ZX3. I noticed today that some of the clearcoat is flaking away on
one of the wheels.
Do any of you have experience dealing with Ford on an issue like this? Id like
to get a new wheel, but have heard they are no longer making them. What
are my options?
Also, I did not buy the wheels from Ford, but from a commercial seller.
Thanks.

There is no warranty with wheels.

Best bet, deal with it, or if it drives you nuts have the wheel re-painted (DIY or Prof.) or powdercoated.

About it. No company will warrantee wheels. Not sure why Ford would either. But I've never had problems with my black SVT wheels that I sold to my dad. And he has had not issues either.

What kind of cleaner you been using on them?

Odds are it's the cleaner you've been using. Most wheel cleaning chemicals say they are safe for factory finishes but the black, gold and white FRPP wheels did not have factory finishes on them.

As for any warranty? You can try contacting Ford Racing direct and see what they say.

They handle all warranty claims directly. You may also want to contact the people that produced the wheel cleaner you were using and see if they have any sort of gaurantee.

No special wheel cleaners. Just soap and water.
My 00 Cobra R wheels get treated the exact same and are doing great.
Ill give the tech line a call and see what I can find.
Its a shitty deal since the car is driven on freeways 90% of the time
and only has 8000 miles on it. Oh well ... I suppose quality isnt job 1.

At FRPP anyways, remember they weren't given a factory finish and who knows who FRPP had do the coating.

Bad deal anyways.

I spoke with a guy at the tech line yesterday afternoon and he asked
me to email him some photos yesterday. He seemed willing to look and
listen to my problem, but Im still not crossing my fingers.
Once he gets back to me, Ill post up again.
Thanks for the number, Steve. :)

Steve, does that mean my 16-spoke tuner wheels have a factory finish since they're silver? Boy, do I hope so. My pads toss so much dust I'm going to have to clean them an awful lot.

I'm not sure about those, The ones that seem to have an issue are the white FRPP wheels which were painted/coated by someone other than Ford.

I really have no idea where the tuner wheels actaully came from.

Cheers!
Ford Racing got back to me and said the wheel finish flaking off
is a paint issue and are having me send them back to them
through Massive Speed. Massive then sends them back to Ford
where they get credited. I am then either issued a refund of
can find something else I want from Massive. Both Karl (Massive)
and Ray (Ford Racing) have been great.

Thanks Steve for the phone number!

Great, I'm glad it's working out for you. I was hoping they would handle it.

o2,
Ray at Ford Racing told me to send him all 4.

And in case anyone is interested, Massive is going to
try and buy up the rest of the Black EAP wheels.
