Anyone know a good way to relocate the batter back to were the stock airbox is on a Zetec? Looks for pics of idea on how to do it. Do SVTs come with teh batter relocated back there? Could I use a SVT battery trey/box/cover?

I bet if you could find a sheet metal fabricator you could easily come up with something. If anything template it out in card board, and then have someone cut the pieces and weld it up.

hmm, ok. I'll have to put more thought into it.
I know Steve's batt. is moved, since his filter is behind the headlight. Thats pretty much what I want to do.

I can help you with it if you like, You need a Duratec battery tray and if you really want to do it right you also need the reinforcment that runs through there from a Duratec as well.
I used the stock reinforcement and modded the Duratec tray, You're welcome to take a close look at mine anytime.
The really nice part is you don't have to alter your wiring harness at all, it'll reach back there just fine.

Yeah, most likely I'll need you to source up the parts for it. I'm not going to be able to find a used set. Most salvage yards keep the engine bay parts to sell the motor complete.

Here are some pics of what I did,
The sections in red had to be cut off, The yellow dot is where I drilled a hole to mount the tray to the brace and tie down.

Heres a couple pics of the install,

I used the stock brace though which is whay I think I had to butcher the tray to make it work.
Tray $28.73
Brace $42.28
I would have to order them in.

Thats the one, I've seen some people remove it completely but I don't know what that does to the strength of the car (if anything)o2designs wrote:What does the brace look like? Is it the black brace that goes by thru there? Or something different?

The pic of the broken battery tray was actually one I had shipped to someone that was doing this mod and it got broken in shipping.spots25 wrote:what did you use to cut that tray? a hammer??
I just used the pic as an example, thats not my battery tray.

Nope, the other guy took the pic and sent it to me. I just added my spectacular highlighting to show him that he really didn't need the part that had broken off to begin with.o2designs wrote:do you still have that broken batt. tray? hehe
It's in his car now.
