i found a built up 5.0 to swap into my 95 f150 (the inline six is Extremely tired...)
i have an 86 5.0 donor truck for all the harnesses, mounts, cradle, fuel rails, etc etc.
my question is if you can find out what emissions junk i can get rid of to clean up the engine bay. i might be eliminating the a/c too..
oh and if the bell housings are the same between the 6 and the 8(plan to use the 5 speed thats currently in my truck). i believe the new engine was once in a fox body mustang if that helps any.
STEVE! need some info :)

I'm sad to see the 6 go
I LOVE those engines.
I believe the 6 cylinder 5 speed trannys are Mazda transmissions... But I could be wrong. What year is the 5.0 out of? Seems to me that there could be a lot of wiring issues if you're going to try using an 86 harness in a 95 truck

My two cents would be to fix or rebuild the six.
I've driven both and if I was going to own one I'd want the big six, it'll outpull the 5.0 any day of the week and they are virtually bulletproof.
When I used to run parts and it snowed I would grab a 4x4 F150 off the lot and the manual trans 4.9 six was WAY WAY more fun and had a TON more low end power for stomping through the deep snow.
As for what you can remove from the truck to run the 5.0?
Whatever you want really, it's your truck and we don't have emissions checks anymore so whats the difference?
Heck, Pull the EFI and slap on a carb. make it real simple.
You'll save yourself a ton of headaches by keeping the six banger.
I can sell you a Ford reman longblock for $1632.00 plus a $500.00 core charge (gauranteed core regardless of condition) and it come with a 3 year 75,000 mile parts and labor warranty.
