So I have an almost brand new 05 Saleen S121 Focus and I want to know what you guys think it can be sold for. I financed it about two months ago and I just can't handle the payments so I want to get a little bit more broken in focus and obviously I can't house two car payments, I dont want to take a big loss on it idealy I would like to break even. It only has 6900 miles on it and I would really like to get 16k for it. Would you guys think that is unreasonable? Please let me know asap, Thanks Tom

Not too sure how much one of those go far. Never really seen any for private sale.

If you looking for a used Focus tho to replace it, I've got a 2000 ZX3 5spd I'm selling.

Another question, where would you guys suggest selling it? Is Autotrader worth the money? Any ideas would be very much appreciated!

If you are able I would try the national discussion boards. If you are not a member or a new member they won't let you advertise until you have posted a certain number of times. Focaljet and Focusfanatics are probably the biggest two. I would definitely use an online site or a print media with online advertising that charges you a flat rate once and allows you to advertise until you sell.

Car soup does have alot of hits. 16K does not sound too bad if all is well with the car, especially with only 6,900 miles.

I have it posted on craigslist and on focusfanatics and I am still not getting anything hits wise. I have gone down to $15,500 and the msrp is $24,525. So I am thinking autotrader is the next step. What do you guys think?

Oh yeah and the car is in great shape and there is nothing wrong with it, not a single ding at all. I have a couple pics on ff http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/show ... p?t=135303

When you list it, list it at about 1000 above what you will take rock bottom so you have some dealing room.
It's gonna take some time too, so be patient about the price and the time, I know its easy to say and hard to do but it's the wrong time of year to be selling a sporty car like the Saleen so your going to have to let the buyer find the car.

What are your payments?

My payments are over $300 a month and that is just a little too much for me right now. Why?

I would try car soup. They are very popular. It's only $25 till it sells. You will get hits there, I'm sure of it. And, like it was said, it is hard to sell a Saleen in the fall, so be patient.

Well another option maybe instead of an outright sale you may find someone willing to "swap payments". Basically you both have vehicles that would suit your needs and at monthly payment amounts that would make life financially easier for you and the other person of course would be able to trade up and take on the larger payment. What you would need would be a bank or credit union that would work with both parties so that you could get the "cash" to pay off the existing loans on both vehicles and facilitate the trade and re-finance at hopefully a decent rate. So the other guy may have a 3 year old car in great shape with maybe 50k miles on it and owes maybe 7k on it, refinanced at the longest term if you are looking for minimal out of pocket you may be able to cut your payment in half and still have decent transportation. Either way you still need to find the person that wants your car, once found there are a number of ways to work out financing. I would second you advertising on car soup, it's inexpensive and your'e ad is there until the car sells. One other thing, over on your FF thread you seem WAY WAY WAY to desperate and that is a bit of a turn off to potential buyers, you should boast up the car, its condition, low miles and not how desperate you are to get rid of it. You could be turning potentials off and inviting someone to give you the big screw job.

So on carsoup should I just put it in the regular used car section or do it in the custom section. I don't know which would be better.
