Well it started two day's ago. When you'd hit a hill it'd start to sputter. Ok, pushed the clutch in and motor reved fine. So I thought the throw out bearing was going. Nope, then thought maybe just bad gas. So I stoped and put some heat and injector cleaner in the tank. Let it run for an hour then drove into town and back No problem it went away. Till last night coming home from town. The car would not run unless it was 3/4-full throtle. And the check engine light came on. Its now parked at home.

Any Idea's? Its at 85K and I haven't changed the fuel filter, its first on my list to do tomorrow. Also thought maybe its the mass air flow sensor. At this point I have no clue.

Also any one have a scanner I could barrow to check the computer? I'd rather not have to put it on the trailer and run it down to Stillwater to get it scanned by Checker.

Thanks

Check your intake for leaks. Sounds like something is slipping off and it is unmetered air. At least in my expierience. I have had similar things happen. My intake elbow seemed to slip off and i'd go nowhere fast.
Slower than your stock focus.

either its a air leak after the MAF , or its the MAF. i had a ranger do this to me a week ago and i did a quick diag on it as a TP sensor, found out it was the maf. if its acting like a misfire or a weird rev limiter its most likely the maf not reading right due to a 1. a leak 2. a bad maf. 8)

First of all, is everything on your car right now the stock stuff? Even if it is, did you check all things that you may have had apart before?

Ok, I went to checker yesterday to rent a scaner to bring home. I pluged her in this morning and came up with three codes. The third code makes me lean to an O2 sensor. And just wanted confirmation on this.

Errors:

1) P0171- System to lean (bank 1)

2) P0171- System to lean (bank 1)

3) P2196- O2 sensor signal stuck rich bank 1 sensor 1

If you could let me know whats needed to be done. It would be greatly appreachiated.

The ST is rolling again. It ended up being a dirty MAF sensor. I pulled everything off from the throttle body down to the filter and cleaned everything. And replaced the AEM air filter temporarily with a cheap cone filter from checker till I can get that Cleaned. But so far so good. Thanks for everyones help.

the claneable filters allow a shit ton of dirt to get pass. im gonna turn back to the flat filter and a box this summer, the trick is to get ri of the factory yubes but the box works great!!! 8)

I agree with you there. And I've been pretty good about cleaning it every 15K. And mine is not an oil type filter. Its an AEM dry filter. K&N's are worthless!
