If it's pretty much mint, I'd throw 5800 at it.o2designs wrote:Ohhh thats nice.....

I'd say even 5800 is pretty high. The resale value on them has really tanked over the last few years. If the body is in perfect condition and it runs and drives good it might be worth what he's asking. Doubt he'll get that on a forum though
So does mine qualify as molested?

So does mine qualify as molested?

Top killers include:CleanZX3 wrote:Dont the early ones have a bearing failure problem?
1. Rod bearing failure with the 2.5L. During hard cornering (right turns mostly) the oil pump can pump faster than the oil can drain back so it all ends up in the cylinder heads causing the rod bearings to seize up. This can be remedied a number of different ways, most people run an extra .5-1 quart of oil, new rod bearings (clevites are a better metal), or an accusump system that can supply up to an additional 1-3 quarts when needed. Personally I just run 6 quarts and don't take cloverleafs and the like over 5k rpm.
2. Differentials (ask Zurno

3. Synchros, I would imagine the Focus has similar problems though. The contour uses the same trans basically and it seems to be pretty picky about what kinds of fluid it likes. A lot of cars start developing 3rd gear grind around 125k-150k miles if they haven't been treated well.
Those are the big/expensive ones though, most other little problems (like waterpumps, dash warp, bumper sag, etc) are cheap and relatively easy to fix.
I'm sad my car is molested

But I don't plan on selling it so who cares
