Do I make my hood scoop functional?

Yes - cool off that turbo!

No - intercooler is good enough, and besides, if you make it functional, we can't mock it for being nonfunctional anymore!

No - Don't make changes which prevent going back to stock.

Ok, I keep tossing about the idea of making my hood scoop functional. Seems to be reasons to do it and reasons not to. There is a nice spot to cut out an opening under the hood that would sit right above the turbo. A change that I can't undo, but seems like a good idea. What do you all think?

Thanks

I would say do it! You have the Saleen Focus right? I would posibly get another hood to do it to though. I'm kinda anal about things like that though. Anal as in cutting holes in your orginal Saleen hood of course!!

Yeah, I would'nt do it to the original hood...but I hate moding original parts. I buy extras and mod those...

I voted yes but also agree that you need a second hood to do it to.

Agreed. Keep the original in tact. What are your plans beyond the hole in the hood? I know there has been the thought of designing ducting to route the air to where the filter pickup is on a zetec. Isn't the duratec's air intake closer to the front?

This is what I'd vote for, getting a second hood and going crazy but keeping the original Saleen hood original 8)

You should do a Shaker hood! 8) Don't know if it would "Shake" that much. Also not much side to side movement more foward and backwards. :?

Ok then, looks like I gotta price out a hood! Thanks for the input everyone. I have to agree with you all, even though it would be the costlier route.

I think if you go this route you should just buy the style hood you want. A nice CF hood (like Lox's style) would look GREAT on your car and be completely functional for you.
