Anyone ever replaced their wheel bearings? I found a really nice write up on focusfanatics. Doesn't look that bad, except trying to find a local shop that will let me use a press. Maybe I'll post on the mac forums, I'm sure someone there has one

I'll be swapping out the Brakes/Rotors/Bearings together. The chance that my car will remain in pieces for more than 24 hours is very high  . I know, for a gearhead it's easy work, and I've done it enough times it shouldn't be bad. but somehow something always seems to go wrong

screw doing the bearings.
It's a few dollars more for a whole new hub assembly and saves alot of time.

Not true, the bearings are like $30, the whole hub assy with bearings is like $140. I bought both bearings and had them pressed for me. To have them pressed it cost me $90, they charged me an hour shop time so it was pricey, but still cheaper than buying 2 new hub assy.
Slower than your stock focus.

I bought the 4 bearings online for $32 each. I did see the full assembly for the fronts but not the rears.

Here's what I got, in case any else is looking:

gotcha. the only car I've done bearings on was my mom's accord and it was only $10 more for the whole assembly.

except for the rust, the rears were fairly easy. It took me a couple hours for the first one, which included 2 or 3 runs to home depot and checkers. 2nd rear took all of 15 minutes to pull apart.

The fronts however, have been another story. I had planned to do a write up on the fronts because to my knowledge one doesn't exist, but it's gone rather badly so I am probably not going to. Many hours into the fronts, my main concern now is just being able to get everything back together and working again by Tuesday! Grrrr

Oh, one snafu on the back is the hub bolts came out when I was taking it apart, and they won't go back in. So it will be another trip to the press at the shop to try and get those back in where they belong
