ever wounder why your svt seems really doggy down low and then all the sudden yerks your tounge back in yer throat? its cus yer mani lever do-hicky mawhats-it broke like they all do, buy this and in 8 minutes you never have to worry.
But what it does... Probably better answeared by Steve or Rob.
It is a little lever controled by the IMRC "Intake Manifold Rail Control" what that does it opens up or closes a Second type runner inside the intake manifold witch would be a shorter runner so air doesn't have to go through a longer intake runner so in witch means more power.
SVT's are known to be a dog in lower RPM's. Its kinda like a V-Attac that hondas use but ford doesn't like to say that because well How cool does it sound to say "IMRC kicked in YO!!"
Also what this little billet dohicky does is help prevent the original Stock plastic one from failing down the road. Like Focinite said a couple mins to install, No longer needed to worry about this going bad.

on the svt , the engine has a computer controlled intake cam and a controlled intake manifold. to make the 2.0 engine perform like a 2.5 v6 svt needed to add a bunch of low end grunt( the 2.0 zetec makes its power from 4000-5800 rpm) so they made a manifold that goes from long runner( good for low end power) to short runner( good for high rpm performance) and a intake cam that advances and retards as needed to keep the power band fairly flat. now where the do-hicky comes in is the mani has a servo box that has a cable that attaches to the mani at a rocker switch, this is cheesy cheap pheneilic plastic, the servo yanks on this switch really hard and the runner barrel is also held by vaccum( ive tried to move it by hand with the engine running......aint happening) so this little tab snaps off esspecialy with quick shifting...side note... the contours have a simmialar set up but it has secondairy butterflies in the mani but the plastic cam switch breakes..
