Okay so the ups man droped of a nice 50lb box at my work today. wOOt!

Now that i have the FR Head, Crower springs and retainers, Crower Stg 1 Cams. I need to gets some parts from ford.

I know I Need
2 Camshaft oil seals
1 Headgasket


I would like to get Valve Tappets so I can build the head and just store my old head as is. But my problem is i dont know what to ask for. My understanding is the tappets are sized differently. Any one know a good base to start with?

Also i need to swap the springs and retainers. Will I need new valve stem oil seals? how about the valve collet? what the hell is a valve collet?

anything else i missed? anyone know where on can pick up some of the tools need for this? Like a valve spring compressor?

I yeah i also have apr headbolts and will be ordering cambolts

I believe collets are the retainers. You will need a valve covr gasket, thermostat housing gasket, intake gasket, exhaust gasket and the tools for setting the crankshaft and camshafts to TDC. I also recomend replacing the thermostat so You'll need a new gasket for that also. Don't forget coolant and oil and a filter. Drain the oil after the job as coolant and all kinds of stuff will get in the crankcase and draining all that will be easier if the oil is still in the crankcase. Autozone or Broadway Rentals should be able to rent you a valve spring compressor.
