Heat shield (Zetec)

Anyone ever had problems with the stock heat shield?


I was getting smoke coming out from under the hood and through the vents over the past month. I thought there may be something on the manifold itself, but after I removed the heat shield, I could see the shield itself was cracked and looked like it had been burning.


I've got it off now, no more smoke. Is it okay to run with it off?

I've had mine off for quite some time. Mine didn't smoke though. I had painted mine black with high heat paint. After a while it got cruddy, so I took it off to redo it....and never did...

No harm in running with it off. When I put the manifold on the ZX2 I never put the heat shield back on.

The shields are garbage. I took mine off my beater as soon as I got the car....
