The way the Compustar ones work, is they make you enter a "Ready/Safe mode" after running the car. So if you want to be able to remote start the car next time there is a specific procedure you follow. I think the procedure is something like: you put the car in neutral with the engine running, apply ebrake, tap the brakes, and remove the key. Engine will stay running and you get out of the car. You hit lock on the remote and the engine shuts off, then it is ready to be remote started. If you unlock it or open the door before starting you would have to start all over and do the sequence again.

The only way I can think where this wouldn't protect you is if you left someone in the car who put it in gear, or if you left the window down and put it in gear that way.

Thats really cool. A ton of steps to be able to start it the next time though.
