You plan on selling tunes to people? I don't think that works...

edit:Or maybe I am confused at what you plan on doing, sorry. Please explain.

Yeah....the predator locks itself to a particular car when you use it.

I was told you can read and tune many Ford cars and trucks. What is the point of buying a programmer/scanner for $400 if it only works on 1 car. Then you would only use it maybe 2-4 times.

it'll work for multiple vehicles, but it understanding was that you could only tune one, and it'd lock itself to that car.

So I could only tune my car? Can you still read and reset codes of other cars or just your 1 car? What if I sell my car and buy a ST or ZX2/3, would I need a new programmer for each car?

You cant even tune your car, you can only adjust the tune that comes with it. Where did you buy it from? Did it come with a tune? If not, you have to buy that too.

And yes, you can read/erase codes on other cars.

Yeah, I'd think twice on that purchase. You still gotta buy a tune after you buy the diablo, unless you know how to tune yourself. I don't know about diablo, but when you use an xcal, it stores the stock code for the car you use it on, in case you wanna go back etc. It only works for one car/tune at a time.

One car at a time with the Predator, It's WELL worth the price if you get a good tune with it.

I wouldn't even consider trying to tune mine, Why would I when I have no way of reading A/F ratios?

Tom's got about the most proven tunes for the SVT, what would make you think you could get more power than the guy that is the generally acknowledged master of SVT tuning?

Nothing against you Chris but I've seen plenty of SVT engines smoked due to improper tuning.

BTW-I don't think you can even tweak the Diablo tune, I may be wrong there but I don't think you can.

Ok...please let me end this. I own a Predator and have several different tunes from Tom. Who by the way, is supposedly retired in Mexico now, but is still selling his tuners because we won't stop whining.

1. The tuner can be used on ONE car at a time. When you put the performance/custom tune on your SVT(it will ONLY work for the SVT model) it saves your EXACT stock system tune. For YOUR SAFETY it can NOT be used on another vehicle while the tune is in your car. If for some reason you lose the tuner or reset it by accident, you lose your stock tune.

2. If you receive the Predator with a custome tune- It will say "custom tune" on the main page instead of "performance tune." If you install the custom tune onto your car, and then need to put the stock tune back into your vehicle, the predator will return to it's original state, WITHOUT the custom tune. You will need to REINSTALL the custom tune back onto the predator before then installing it back onto your car. They do this for safety.

3. According to Diablosport, Ford, and Tom, the FSVT is Ford's most technologically advanced car on the market. So forth, YOU the end-user will NOT be able to make a CUSTOM tune for yourself. You can not change idle, redline, or anything, you must have an authorized Predator dealer do it for you.

4. If you do go the custom route, you will need to purchase either a serial-serial cable and a power adapter, for in home use. Or a serial-USB adapter and then use your laptop in the car while powering the Predator with your OBD2 port.

5. If you work with a respectable dealer they WILL NOT charge you for a custom tune, depending on what they have to do. Tom never charged me for any of my 5 different customizations.

-Also, if you do plan on putting a custom tune onto your predator at home, you will need to download the DS downloader from Diablosport's website.

I have been through all of this and if anyone has anymore questions, feel free to ask.

P.s. The tune is the BEST thing I did to my car, and I used it to turn off my second O2 sensor when I did my ORP (second best mod I did.)

Alright so I'll get the tune from Tom and leave it at that. But I can still read and reset codes on other Fords right?

You should be able to.

My Xcal2 is set to one car for the tune. But can read and reset other codes for other Fords.

Hey 5doorfury, Have you dynoed with Tom's tune in?

I'm curious, I've got a copy of Toms tune and while it was pretty good I actually like the tune I got from a guy I deal with in South Carolina that owns "Unique tuning".

I haven't dynoed with the latest revision but it feels much stronger than Toms did in the low end and midrange, Not sure up top as I don't get many chances to "exercise" my car.
