What to do with these flaking white FRPP 17" wheels?

I like these wheels on my car, but the clearcoat is flaking off so I have a choice to make. Repaint them, or buy new. If I get new, I'm not sure I want white ones again (they suck at keeping clean too). I like the look of black with the chrome lips (all black still looks like a beater w/o hubcaps to me). I also like having lots of spokes on the rims, helps hide the cheezy drum rear brake. Does anyone know of a decent 17" rim like this (at a decent price?). Or is there anything I can do with my old rims? If it's much work I might as well sell them, so if anyone is interested let me know. Be easy to paint whatever color you want. Not sure what they are worth with the tires (P nero zero) included (about 1/2 worn).

Here are the rims showing the flaking clearcoat. As you can see the paint is still there but turning yellow.

Here's the car when they were all new and shiny. I figure to take off the white stripes if I get black wheels. What do you guys think?

See about getting them powder coated, That would really be the most cost effective option and you could pick any color you like.

I think o2designs has a good hook up for powder coating, I have a guys number around here somewhere but I can't find it right now.

You could also contact Hotrodwagon to see what he can get a hold of, He has a pretty good hookup on Rota's and Team dynamics.

I have my silver 17" Team Dynamics that I got from HRW that I'm still considering selling, but I don't know if you're fixed on black or not.

I personally love the white wheels on your car, so if you bought something differnt that wasnt white, I would be disappointed.

Good to know, I thought I was the only one who liked the white wheels! Still a bich to clean. If I decide to paint/coat them I might just wait until winter. Too bad I can't just get the clearcoat off and redo that.

Chrome and res isn't all that hot on a Focus. Maybe if you were going for the whole chromed out thing, but it still wouldn't be that how.

MAT, how about make those the winter wheels and buy something else for the summer fun.

Nick your right "Chrome and res isn't all that" especially the "whole chromed out thing". Too much bling on the body, I don't care for the overdone in fact I thought the 08's had too much chrome on the front ends. I like my Red car and my Chrome wheels and realize that they are quite contrary to the rest of the Focus not only because they are Chrome but also their style. I like Mat's car with his White wheels again because you don't see many Focus with them.
