Well I just picked up a 2000 Focus 4dr with an 2.0spi auto, The 2.0 has some motor issues and Graham does not like to convert the 4dr's in to rally cars (the roll cage is alot more work in a 4dr) so I have a free focus to build or sell.

I am trying to figure out what I should do with it.
a. swap in a zetec/auto from Al and sell it
b. swap in a 2.3 dura/5spd, junk the airbags (since I have to use a 00-01 pcm for the airbags) and keep it
c. swap in a zetec/built 5spd for rallys (this I would love to do but that means no spare motor/tranny for the race car)
d. or try a v6/5spd contour/taurus swap (this would need me to modifiy the engine harness and who knows whats else)

getting the parts would be no problem since I have a spare zetec w/40,000, mtx75's x2, 02 taurus 3.0 dohc w/70,000, 89 3.0 SHO motor w/80,000 but not sure if this would bolt up to the contour v6 5spd tranny.

I basicly have the time, the space and I am bored.

Al has a complete ST 2.3 MTX with wiring and PCM that I know he'd sell as a package 8)

I believe the entire front suspension is intact and in good shape as well.

is in gold?

you should do something with some aftermarket support. the duras don't have much and idk bout the sho and contour(svt?). so i guess i vote svt zetec sedan, which is something i want to do.
A friend asked me if I wanted a frozen banana, I said "No, but I want a regular banana later, so Yeah."

The more I think about it the v6 swap is goin to be a pain, which pcm do u use?, the pcm for the SHO might work since it was with a 5spd from the factory but that is one heavy motor.

I was thinking the 2.3 from Al also, would be a fun car then.

I'd sell it. Take what you get and use it however you like. A 2000 spi atx would need everything...I guess if you have the pockets for it.

That's just it, Al has a complete running ST drivetrain still in the car so everything is there to do the swap.

I'd use the 02' Taurus motor if you go the V6 route. The SHO motor won't bolt up to the MTX75 as far as I know.

You could use a v6 5 speed Contour/Cougar PCM (you would have to deal with PATS) and have it tuned for the 3.0L (bigger injectors, no imrc, disable egr, etc).

I kinda like plan B. The Zetec you have is the backup for the race car?

Maybe option D could end up being the best bang/buck then. Since you already have the 3.0L and a transmission to go with it. You'd need a clutch/flywheel, engine harness, and PCM for sure... Then lots of time to mess with fitment and wiring. With a tune you should be able to get anywhere from 180-200whp on the stock 3.0L. All of the other options would require F/I to get you to 200whp.

Yeah
(d.) would be fun but both of the mtx-75's I have are for zetec motors so I would have to find a v6 mtx.

Actually the D2.3 has made 230hp N/A using Cosworth goodies, not cheap but easily doable.

I say twin engine Focus.

I vote for the 2.3 d. You could have fun with that route for sure.
