Driving home tonight the fan was on high working normally then stuttered and stopped. I shut the fan off then moved it thru the different speed positions with no response from the fan until the switch was in the high speed position. The fan was running fairly slow even though the switch was in the high position. I shut it down as I did not want to flirt with a possible electrical fire. Prior to this I had noticed on a number of occasions that the hvac fan switch lighting would dim then return to normal intensity. Makes me wonder if the switch or fan is the culprit.

Any information or troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,
B

More than likely a Blower Motor Resistor issue.
